ECG machine calibration services for hospitals, clinics and cardiac units

Accuracy checks for resting ECG machines and ECG monitors using a calibrated ECG simulator, carried out on site with traceable documentation.

ECG machine calibration services verify that an electrocardiograph or ECG monitor records amplitude, heart rate, paper or sweep speed and frequency response correctly against a calibrated ECG simulator. A complete visit also covers lead integrity, lead-off detection and in-service electrical safety testing to IEC 62353, followed by a traceable calibration certificate.

What ECG machine calibration services involve

An ECG is only useful if the waveform on paper or screen is a faithful copy of the signal at the electrodes. Gain errors change the height of the QRS complex, a wrong paper speed distorts intervals, and poor filtering hides or adds detail. ECG calibration checks each of these against a known input.

We connect a calibrated ECG simulator to all leads and feed standard waveforms: a 1 mV calibration pulse, normal sinus rhythm at several rates, and test signals for frequency response. The recorded output is measured and compared with the simulator values, channel by channel.

ECG monitor calibration follows the same principle, with extra checks on heart rate display and alarm limits. It is often combined with patient monitor calibration as part of a wider medical equipment calibration schedule.

Why ECG calibration is part of routine equipment care

Diagnostic accuracy

ST changes, voltage criteria and interval measurements depend on correct gain and speed. Small errors can change how a tracing is read.

Lead and cable wear

Patient cables are flexed and cleaned daily. Calibration with a simulator exposes broken leads and intermittent connections early.

Audit readiness

Accreditation and internal quality reviews expect a dated, traceable calibration record for diagnostic equipment such as ECG machines.

Parameters checked during ECG monitor calibration

  • Amplitude and gain accuracy using a 1 mV reference signal
  • Heart rate accuracy at low, normal and high simulated rates
  • Paper speed or sweep speed (typically 25 and 50 mm/s settings)
  • Frequency response and filter function
  • Lead integrity on all limb and chest leads
  • Lead-off detection and related alarms
  • Printer output, annotation and date-time settings
  • Electrical safety per IEC 62353: earth continuity and leakage currents

  • Emergency rooms
  • ICU and CCU
  • Outpatient clinics

  • Diagnostic centres
  • Ambulances
  • Nursing homes

How often ECG machine calibration services are needed

Annual ECG machine calibration services are common practice in most hospitals, in line with the manufacturer's maintenance guidance. Machines in emergency and cardiac areas, which are used many times a day, may need closer attention.

Recalibrate after a repair, a replacement patient cable, a fall, or when doctors notice unusual baselines or amplitudes. Your biomedical department decides the final interval based on usage and history.

Keep each certificate with the equipment record, enter the next due date in your maintenance schedule and show both to auditors when asked. We keep a record of due dates for every client and can send a reminder before the next visit is needed, so nothing slips out of calibration between audits.

On-site ECG machine calibration services in Tamil Nadu

ECG machines are portable, but sending them away still leaves a ward without one. Our engineers calibrate on site at your hospital or clinic, so each machine is back in service the same day.

We serve hospitals and diagnostic centres across Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri and other districts of Tamil Nadu. See our hospital calibration services for the full range of equipment we cover in one visit.

Certificates show make, model, serial number, reference equipment, results and measurement uncertainty, and are issued within the laboratory's NABL scope where applicable. Ask us for the current scope document.

Other cardiac equipment to calibrate together

Hospitals often group ECG machines with defibrillator and AED calibration and blood pressure monitor calibration, since the same cardiac teams use all three.

Grouping by department gives your quality team one consolidated record for the cardiac unit.

How the work is carried out

01

Plan

Share the list of ECG machines and monitors with make, model and location, and we agree a visit schedule.

02

Test

Each unit is connected to a calibrated ECG simulator and tested on all leads, followed by IEC 62353 electrical safety tests.

03

Review

As-found results are compared with manufacturer tolerances. Units outside tolerance are adjusted where permitted or referred for service.

04

Certify

You receive a calibration certificate for each machine and a summary list for your equipment register.

One accountable team, documented results

NABL-Accredited

Calibration and testing carried out under NABL accreditation and ISO/IEC 17025:2017-compliant procedures.

On-Site & Laboratory Capability

Work carried out at your facility or in our laboratory, by one accountable team.

Serving Since 2022

Serving hospitals, laboratories, pharmaceutical and industrial clients across Tamil Nadu since 2022.
