Vanavil Calibrations

Sterile manufacturing area testing and aseptic area validation

In sterile and injectable manufacturing, the environment is part of the product. We test the critical zones, background areas and airflow that protect sterile products and give your quality team the evidence inspectors expect.

Sterile manufacturing area testing is the validation of cleanrooms and critical zones used for aseptic processing and injectable manufacturing, covering particle classification, HEPA filter integrity, unidirectional airflow, pressure cascades, recovery and airflow visualization. Vanavil Calibrations provides these services to pharmaceutical manufacturers across Tamil Nadu.

Protecting sterile products at every step

Sterile products cannot be terminally sterilized in every case, so the manufacturing environment must prevent contamination during aseptic steps. Critical zones where sterile product is exposed are protected by unidirectional airflow from HEPA filters, surrounded by cleanrooms of decreasing cleanliness in a controlled pressure cascade.

Validation tests each layer. Critical zones are checked for particle levels, airflow velocity and uniformity, and filter integrity. Background rooms are classified and their pressure relationships confirmed. Airflow visualization shows whether air moves cleanly over open product during real operations.

Injectable, ophthalmic and other sterile dosage forms each have their own processes, from vial filling to lyophilization loading. We plan testing around your specific layout, equipment and operating practices.

Supporting services include airflow visualization tests, HEPA filter integrity testing and pharmaceutical cleanroom validation.

Sterility assurance starts with the environment

Patient safety

Injectable and sterile products go directly into patients; contamination is unacceptable.

Regulatory scrutiny

Aseptic processing areas receive close attention in GMP inspections.

Process confidence

Validated environments support media fills and process validation.

Testing the zones that matter most

Critical zones, often where open vials, stoppers or product contact parts are exposed, receive the most detailed testing. Velocity is measured close to the working level across the filtered area, filter faces are scanned for leaks, and particle counts are taken at locations representing exposed product.

Smoke studies in these zones, at rest and during simulated interventions, show whether operator movements or equipment disturb the protective airflow. Findings often lead to practical improvements in technique or equipment placement.

Supporting cleanrooms and transfers

Background rooms, airlocks, gowning rooms and material transfer points support the critical zones. They are classified, their pressure cascade is verified and their recovery is tested. Weaknesses here, such as a poorly performing airlock, can undermine the protection of the critical zone.

Testing the whole suite together, rather than isolated rooms, shows how the facility works as a system. Our differential pressure testing maps the full cascade.

Reports built for inspections

Reports for sterile areas identify each zone and its grade, the occupancy state, sampling locations, instruments used and their calibration status, measured results, acceptance criteria and conclusions. Smoke study observations and any recordings are referenced, so inspectors can follow the full evidence trail.

Testing during simulated interventions

Real aseptic operations include interventions such as clearing jams or replacing components. Observing airflow during simulated interventions shows whether these actions disturb protection over open product, and helps refine procedures and operator training.
