Vanavil Calibrations

Weighing balance calibration for analytical, precision and industrial balances

From milligrams in a QC lab to kilograms on a production floor, weighing errors travel straight into your results. We calibrate balances with traceable weights and document every test.

Weighing balance calibration checks a balance against traceable standard weights for accuracy, repeatability, eccentricity (corner load) and linearity across its range. Vanavil Calibrations calibrates analytical, precision and industrial balances on-site for laboratories, pharmaceutical plants, hospitals and industry.

How a balance calibration works

Balances are sensitive to their surroundings: vibration, air currents, levelling and temperature all affect the reading. Calibration at the place of use, under real conditions, shows how the balance actually performs where your team relies on it.

A typical calibration covers repeatability (the same load weighed several times), eccentricity (the same load placed at different positions on the pan) and accuracy at several points across the range. Results are compared with the balance's specification or your own tolerance.

Balances also underpin other checks in the lab, including micropipette calibration. See Laboratory Equipment Calibration for the wider range of lab instruments we cover.

Precision weighing balance in a laboratory ready for calibration

Weighing errors carry into every result

Accurate results

Weighing is often the first step in an analysis; an error here carries through every result that follows.

Regulatory records

Pharmaceutical and testing laboratories are expected to keep current balance calibration records.

Correct batches and doses

In production and in hospitals, correct weights mean correct batches, formulations and doses.

How the work is carried out

01

Balance details

We note capacity, readability and use for each balance to select suitable weights.

02

On-site checks

Repeatability, eccentricity and accuracy are tested where the balance is used.

03

Evaluation

Results are compared with the specification or your tolerance.

04

Certificate

A certificate with results, uncertainty and status is issued for each balance.

One accountable team, documented results

NABL-Accredited

Calibration and testing carried out under NABL accreditation and ISO/IEC 17025:2017-compliant procedures.

Frequently asked questions

Many laboratories calibrate balances annually through an external provider and carry out simple daily or weekly checks with a check weight in between. Critical balances may need shorter intervals.
Eccentricity or corner-load testing places the same weight at the centre and at the edges of the pan to see whether the reading changes with position.
Yes. On-site calibration is preferred for balances because moving them can change their performance.
We use standard weights with traceable calibration, chosen to suit the capacity and readability of each balance.
